Authors hate them. Readers depend on them. Publishers require them. The book blurb can be one of the most useful and most difficult of marketing pieces for a book – probably the most important after the cover.
NPR did a great story on the book blurb that’s worth reading. I found it interesting that agents see the blurb as have broader use than attracting readers after publishing. Just an interesting article for authors and readers on one of the most visible book features.
